Why Restaurants Need a Mobile Marketing Strategy

Restaurant mobile marketing strategiesRestaurant mobile marketing is easier and more affordable to initiate than any other advertising strategy or promotions program. A restaurant mobile marketing strategy should encompass mobile text marketing, mobile apps, mobile websites and social media marketing.

Most customers perform local searches when looking for restaurants, making mobile marketing for restaurants including location-based optimization more important than ever. Mobile marketing companies can help you implement your SMS marketing program and develop a mobile marketing strategy to compete in the local restaurant arena using mobile apps, texting and mobile websites.

On its website, the Mobile Marketing Association features a case study on successful restaurant mobile marketing involving Subway.

The study cites issues Subway faced that all restaurants must deal with:

  • Seasonal business woes
  • Limited marketing budget
  • Changing customer base

The Mobile Marketing Association went on show that the mobile marketing companies Subway worked with recommended mobile text marketing using mobile coupons and SMS marketing communications to more effectively engage diners, broaden the customer base and address the issues of seasonality.

Subway, working with the mobile marketing company, launched the restaurant mobile marketing strategy and achieved tremendous results in terms of customer responses and increased sales in all of the stores that launched the SMS marketing plan.

The case study presented by the Mobile Marketing Association showed the remarkable results that can be achieved with a successful mobile text marketing campaign, including:

50% mobile coupon redemption rate using mobile marketing for restaurants for the first offer

After the initial offer, throughout the campaign managed by the mobile marketing company, Subway averaged a 9% redemption rate, compared with the 1% rate they got from paper coupons

Subway’s restaurant mobile marketing campaign also achieved 150 opt-ins per week with a less than 1% opt-out rate that has climbed to nearly 5,000 customers in 100 of their franchise stores

The Subway case study clearly shows how effective a restaurant mobile marketing strategy can be and why you should consider mobile marketing for restaurants. If you are concerned about the cost of initiating text marketing, mobile websites or mobile apps, don’t be. There are many mobile marketing companies whose sole focus is working with smaller establishments like yours.

A number of small to mid-sized business owners (62%) eschew mobile marketing companies and develop and implement their own restaurant mobile marketing strategy. If you have the time to devote to a marketing program, mobile text marketing and mobile websites can be done using free online tools to save on start-up costs and execute your own strategy for restaurant mobile marketing.
