Top Fitness Mobile Marketing Strategies

Fitness Mobile MarketingFor health clubs, fitness centers, gyms and yoga studios, mobile marketing strategies including mobile websites, mobile apps and text message marketing can be valuable tools to increase membership at your fitness club.

Mobile Marketer magazine profiled a North Carolina health club that wanted to increase membership to their gyms. They worked with a mobile marketing firm and ran television ads with a text-in call to action. Their target audience was residents in their commuting area who might be interested in joining their fitness centers or using their personal training services.

Responders to the TV ads received free registration and a trial membership to enjoy all the benefits of their health club including aerobics classes, yoga and personal training. 44% of people who responded double opted-in to the fitness center’s text message marketing plan. The fitness club was thrilled with the results of the campaign, saying, “We worked together with the management team to produce an effective television commercial that focused on results by combining the power of cable television advertising and mobile texting. We are thrilled with the results of this successful campaign.”

Aerobics studios, yoga studios and gyms are learning to tap into the dominance of mobile marketing to more effectively reach consumers. Mobile apps, mobile websites and text message marketing are increasingly more effective than email and print advertising for aerobic studios, personal trainers and yoga studios.

Currently, less than 28% of marketing and sales emails are opened compared to a 99% open rate for text messages. Text mobile marketing can be used to notify customers that training sessions have been cancelled or rescheduled so that people aren’t disappointed when they show up for classes that aren’t happening.

If your gym has a yoga or aerobics class that has low attendance, sending out a discount or VIP promotion to people on your text list can encourage more people to sign up for your class. Increased attendance means more opportunities to engage your members in other services such as tanning and spa services you may offer. Similarly, personal trainers experiencing down time in their schedule can reach out to potential clients using the text database of your fitness club to offer promotions to engage more people to get fit with you.

Mobile websites are integral to your mobile marketing plan as well. Aerobics studios and fitness centers can use their mobile site to let consumers easily see your class schedules, fees and offer them easy click-to-call options or text options to communicate with your facility.

Mobile apps are another facet of mobile marketing that can engage potential clients for your gym or health studio. You can offer a free app that will track fitness improvement or set up a training plan that utilizes the specific equipment in your gym. It can also offer a membership deal and a free session with a personal trainer. This is where you can be very creative. Any idea for an app that will interest clients and potential clients is worth pursuing.

Most of your consumers are on the go and have quick access to their mobile device so why not reach them in the most effective way possible. Mobile marketing for fitness clubs, aerobics, yoga studios and personal training is a low-cost, highly effective tool to increase membership and drive revenues.
